With local large scale development proposals on the increase, the threat to open spaces and wildlife habitats is high. There is, it seems, a slow process of attrition. Existing open spaces are expensive to maintain and can be perceived as development opportunities by owners. Halstead Public Gardens is one such example.
Open countryside is being lost as developments spill over the edge of Halstead's development boundary.
Our Local Plan is being developed now and will form the basis for planning decisions right up until 2033.
